Bellingham Ukulele Group (BUG)
BUG is a community of ukulele enthusiasts who are dedicated to the enjoyment of ukulele playing, singing and sharing our love for all things ukulele. The group is continually adding to their membership by word of mouth, meetings and concerts presented by world-renowned ukulele entertainers and masters, including James Hill, ‘Lil Rev, Ralph Shaw and Aaron Keim. The events usually include ukulele educational workshops. In 2010, BUG collaborated with Pickford Film Center for two sold-out showings of The Mighty Uke, a documentary about the growing popularity of the ukulele. They also sponsored a concert with Kimo Hussey in 2009, with proceeds going to the purchase of ukuleles for the Ukes for Kids project. BUG members Pat and Gail McDonald took the ukes to children in rural areas of Guatemala, and Gail taught classes in partnership with the non-profit organization Education and Hope. bellinghamukulelegroup.com
